Effective, Consistent Communication Increases Church Attendance, Creates Loyalty and Builds Community

We were taught as children that the Church was its people. And in order for a church to be active and grow both numerically and spiritually, it must be fed, or “engaged.” The question then becomes, what does it mean to have an “engaged” church, and how do you get there?

The importance of communicating clearly and often cannot be overemphasized. Understandable and up-front communication increases trust between members and leaders while eliminating unnecessary confusion.

Church Business Magazine has partnered with PhoneTree to present “The Engaged Church,” a live Webinar to answer these questions, as well as explain the roles of the youth, elderly, small groups, Sunday School, leadership and more in making this dream a reality. This free event will also educate attendees about the latest communication technologies that can help you get there – plus, their function in engaging today’s congregations.

Visit www.churchbusiness.com/webinars to register and learn more about this online Webinar.

Join us for this live event on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET. Our speaker will be Michael Euliss, motivational teacher and director of marketing for PhoneTree.

In addition to his work with PhoneTree, Michael Euliss serves as a senior associate with the Gallagher-Westfall Group, Inc. in Indiana, providing leadership and supervisory training to hundreds of governmental, church, corporate, medical and civic groups across the nation.

Euliss is well-known for practical, but powerful, motivational and inspirational learning experiences and has been featured as a guest speaker at numerous venues, including many TV and radio shows, the Christian Management Association Annual Convention, and the Robert Scheuller Institute for Church Leadership at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif.

Interview with Church Solutions Magazine - 2007

The title probably sparks your interest ... but what exactly will you gain from attending? What is an "engaged" church, and why would you want one?

To find out, I chatted this morning with the Webinar presenter, Michael Euliss -- motivational teacher, director of marketing for PhoneTree, and an "old hat" at conducting Webinars.

Church Business: Your Webinar on Mar. 6 is about creating an "engaged" church. In a nutshell, what does that mean?

Euliss: An 'engaged' church, put succinctly, is a church committed to -- using Robert Schuller's words -- turning skeptics into seekers, seekers into believers, and believers into achievers. [It's a] church that actively seeks to provide an environment of Affection, Belonging and Significance. You see a good description of this church in Acts 2:42-47.

CB: Specifically, what can attendees expect to learn when they attend the Webinar?

Euliss: One of the keys to becoming an engaged church today is great communication. After setting the vision of this church, we'll look at how vital communication is in creating this environment and how to most effectively use today's communication technologies. If your church relies 90% to 100% on e-mail for its communication, tune in!

CB: You've personally hosted a lot of Webinars. Why do you think they're such a good medium for educating church leaders?

Euliss: If I could, I would go one-on-one to each church and share this vision. However, this wouldn't be cost- or time-efficient. Webinars provide an environment that's second only to a live presentation. A webinar allows for great personal learning experience. This is accomplished while providing the greatest value to a ministry, allowing them to be good stewards with their dollars. We strive everyday to seek ways of making resources within our control affordable for every church and ministry.

I've actually talked at length with Michael at conferences about this topic long before he proposed it as a Webinar. I'm sure you'll find -- like I did -- that he's an incredibly well-informed, interesting and passionate speaker.
